The Teal Pumpkin Project: Making Halloween Safe and Magical for Every Child
Halloween is a time of excitement, costumes, and sweet treats, but for many children with food allergies, it can be a tricky and even isolating night.
Imagine being four years old, dressed up and ready for your first trick-or-treat adventure⦠only to find that every treat youāre offered could make you sick.
Thatās where the Teal Pumpkin Project comes in.
Created by FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education), this wonderful initiative helps make Halloween fun and inclusive for everyone by encouraging homes to offer non-food treats like stickers, toys, and glow sticks for children with allergies.
š What Does a Teal Pumpkin Mean?
If you spot a teal pumpkin on someoneās doorstep, itās a clear sign that they offer safe, allergy-friendly goodies for trick-or-treaters.Ā Itās a simple act of kindness that can make a huge difference for a child who might otherwise miss out on all the Halloween fun.
š Join In ā Colour, Display, and Share!
This year, weāre inviting everyone to help spread the word by displaying a teal pumpkin poster in your window.
šļø Download our printable poster, colour it in, and pop it somewhere visible - on your front door, gate, or window to show families that youāre allergy-aware and have safe treats or toys available.
Itās a small gesture that brings big smiles (and peace of mind) to parents and little ones alike.

Why It Matters
For families managing multiple food allergies, Halloween can feel overwhelming. As the story in our campaign shows, one teal pumpkin can completely change that by turning disappointment into joy, and loneliness into inclusion.
Grab your crayons, download the poster, and get colouring!
Then, share a photo of your teal pumpkin or coloured poster on social media with #TealPumpkinProject Ā to help spread the word far and wide.
Because every child deserves to feel included and every Halloween should be full of treats, laughter, and love. š
